Mountza #1

Another zine from Greece and this time it’s fuckin’ huge and packed with great stuff! Great in-depth interviews with Hewhocorrupts, Regulations, Fucked Up, Zann, Dean Dirg, Censored Sound a great interview with Felix Havoc from Havoc records, columns, gig and record reviews and many many more cool punk things! Focused only in what the authors think is punk! The layout is fuckin’ professional, everything is put together great and the photos are crystal clear. The whole zine kind of brings to mind the Punk Planet zine (hehe..) but waaay better in my opinion!!!

For some reason I’ve missed reviewing the first issue of Mountza zine, a great new greek zine. For starter, this is absolutely punk rock. Take a deep breath and dive into the content: interviews with Magrudergrind, Trencher, The Amphetameanies, Vodka Juniors (+Cannonball Records), Mouthbreather, Hjerte Stop, Bombenalarm, Transistor Transistor, Spild Af Vinyl (+Death Token); Burial’s Japanese tour report, gig photography (by Mateus Mondin and Daigo Olivia) plus news and music reviews. The printing and layout is absolutely professional (reminds me of Maximum RNR, Last Hours etc) since the guys behind this zine have a big history on zines. Actually this is half the team of the infamous greek Immigrant zine. The biggest part of the zine is written in english (only the opening columns and an interview is in greek), so don’t hesitate if you can’t read greek. Do NOT miss this one.

Mountza #2

Wow! This is a really good zine. Clean, functional layouts, awesome photo reproduction, and excellent offset printing. The two-color cover is very eye-catching as well. Inside, you will find interviews with Trencher, Hjerte Stop, Mouth Breather, Vodka Juniors, Bombenalarm, Transistor Transistor, Death Token/Spild Af Vinyl, and Magrudergrind (written in Greek), among others. There’s also a Burial/Nightmare/Crude 2007 tour diary. The columns at the beginning are also written in Greek (seeing as that’s where Mountza is based from). Most definitely a zine worth picking up and supporting.

Mountza #3

I feel like the winner of some multi-million dollar lottery when I get a copy of Mountza for review. This issue retains the high quality production values, and is now perfect bound. Inside are interviews with Criminal Damage, Clorox Girls, Hibernation, Get Rad, Annihilation Time, New Mexican Disaster Squad, Hate Records, and Viral Graphics. Then there are the columns (in Greek), a mix tape article (written in Greek, but band names in English), and entertaining observance of the Neurotic Deathfest from Pascal Cretain, an Anti-Mond tour report, and a new section, “Art & Disorderly.” A lot of reading. Opinionated and interesting.
